The CONNECT Program
Who it’s for.
Understanding emotions and connecting with ourselves.Throughout our lives, we face many changes and transitions that can lead to loneliness, isolation, as well as strong emotional responses, including anxiety and depression.
The CONNECT Program is grounded in community needs and evidence-based research, and has been shown to lead to clinically significant positive change in depression, emotional support, mental health literacy, and psychological flexibility in prior evaluation.
These transitions can include retirement, moving, changes in health and mobility, caregiving, losses of close friends and family members, and changes in financial status.
These transitions can lead to substantial lifestyle changes, which can mean a distancing from our loved ones, from activities that we once valued and participated in, and a narrowing of life.
Through 6 weekly group-based CONNECT Program sessions virtually by phone, we work toward understanding loneliness, isolation, and related emotional experiences such as anxiety and depression; connecting with ourselves (our experiences, feelings, values, goals). We do this as a group which allows us to develop connections and inspiration in moving forward building a connected life where you can thrive.
Here is some of the feedback we have received from CONNECT Program Graduates:
“You don't have to go anywhere. You can be comfortable in whatever setting you choose at home. You know, again, there's no judgment.”
“I like the fact that we were connecting. I was connecting with people.”
“I've gotten a lot of information from other people and the facilitators, I've learned how to do things that I normally wouldn't do. And I've learned a great deal from this program.”
“At the time that I heard about the program, I felt like I was kind of going down a slippery slope that would lead to clinical depression because I've been there before. I found that I wasn't connecting with people. I wasn’t reaching out to people. I wasn't doing a lot of things I used to enjoy. And when I heard about this program, I thought that it would help me. And it has very much. I've learned a lot about myself and my thought process. And I think it has done me a lot of good.”
“I loved the mindfulness exercises.”
